Montrose Search and Rescue, California Highway Patrol, U.S. Forest Service and Los Angeles County Fire responded to three motorcycle accidents within three hours on Sunday on Angeles Crest Highway and Angeles National Forest.
The first occurred on the Angeles National Forest Highway at about 10:30 a.m. when a motorcyclist apparently lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into a hillside. MSR team members responded to his injuries and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Air 5 transported the driver to a local hospital.
About 30 minutes later, another motorcycle driver apparently lost control of his vehicle and went 50 feet over the side of Angeles Crest Highway at mile marker 46.5. The victim landed in heavy brush, according to MSR member Mike Leum.
The male victim was critically injured and was fading in and out of consciousness. He was airlifted to a trauma center, Leum said.
The last motorcycle accident that MSR responded to on Sunday was a short time later. The rider lost control of his motorcycle and laid his bike down, leaving oil on the roadway near mile marker 30 on ACH. Fortunately the rider walked away with minor injuries.
