A Titanic Tea … With Hats!
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and according to Lynne Roberto events to commemorate it are taking place all over the world. From Belfast where the ship was built, to England where she set sail from South Hampton on her maiden voyage, to New York where she was headed, and even in Montrose, special events are taking place.
Here in the Montrose Shopping Park, Lynne is going to be hosting a Titanic Tea at The T Room. Lynne has passions for the Titanic, teas and hats, so this promises to be one special tea. As Lynne says, “This just seemed like a good idea for tea, to celebrate a more refined way of life, to dress up and wear hats, and have a bit of fun.” To that end, Lynne is going to have a hat contest. There will be prizes awarded in five categories: most elegant, most sassy, most whimsical, oldest hat and ugliest hat. I hope the one that wins the last award planned to. Ha-ha!
If that’s not enough, there are also going to be 20 door prizes that include books and movies about the Titanic, tea cups, and books on the joys of tea. All of this in the elegant, relaxing Montrose T Room sounds wonderful indeed.
Now for a little about Lynne, your hostess.
Lynne has always had a fascination with the Titanic since she was a little girl and saw the movie “A Night to Remember.” This fascination was rekindled with the blockbuster movie “Titanic” that was released in 1997. Lynne is a native Californian who was raised in San Marino, went to Pasadena City College and spent 20 years as a professional home caterer. She has published two books, one being an Italian cookbook. She is married and the mother of four, loves Disneyland and celebrating everything. She is an active Red Hatter and involved in the La Crescenta Woman’s Club, co-chairing this year’s annual fashion show and luncheon.
I would say this is one tea you don’t want to miss! It will take place on Sunday, April 22 at 1 p.m. The cost is $30 that includes tax and tip. There are only 45 seats and the reservation deadline is April 14. Since Lynne is hosting this tea, checks should be sent to her at Lynne Roberto, 2426 Orange Ave., La Crescenta Ca., 91214, or call her at (818) 957-4321.
