OPEN HOUSE PLANNED
Pasadena Child Development Associates is hosting a free open house on Saturday, March 24 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Facility tours, including the gym, play rooms, kitchens and music rooms, will be given. Many services for children with special needs are provided by PCDA. Fun activities at the open house for all children include games, arts & crafts, food, music and a bounce house.

ROSE LEAF RAGTIME CLUB AT AZTEC HOTEL
The Rose Leaf Ragtime Club, now in its 17th year of operation, meets on the last Sunday of every month and will next gather on Sunday, March 25 at the Aztec Hotel’s Mayan Restaurant from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
There is a suggested donation of $2 (performers are not asked to donate). Ragtime and related types of music, classic and contemporary, are played on one or two upright pianos as well as on other instruments. Performers, listeners and dancers (there’s a small dance floor) are always welcome.

TRAVELING IDEAS OFFERED BY ASTER
ASTER – Assisting Seniors Through Enhanced Resources – will present a workshop on Thursday, March 22 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Great Senior Half & Full Day Travel. Local seniors will talk about inexpensive fun local trips, Montrose Travel will provide all types of inexpensive travel ideas throughout southern California. In addition Dr, Dennis Chang will discuss travel safety for seniors.
Refreshments and door prizes will be provided.
The event will be hosted at the Crescenta Cañada YMCA in the Patio Room. A parking lot shuttle will be provided as well as a shuttle for overflow parking.

KIDS HEALTH EXPO PLANNED
Glendale Healthy Kids is hosting a Kids Health & Fitness Expo on Saturday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Edison Pacific Community Center. Included with be vision and hearing exams, Lions’ Eye screening for children ages 0 to 4 years, dental screening, scoliosis screening plus a rock climbing wall, child ID fingerprinting, nutrition information, TDAP immunizations ($35 fee) and more.

Free to Breathe® Lung Cancer Yogathon on Sunday, March 25, a fun event for the entire family from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. that brings the community together to inspire hope and create change for everyone impacted by lung cancer. The event takes place at Women’s Club of Hollywood at 1749 N. LaBrea Ave. in Los Angeles.

SHOP & STROLL CHARITY EVENT
The Junior League of Pasadena (JLP) and THE Magazine invite shoppers and community members to Shop & Stroll for Charity at the shops on Union and Holly streets in Old Town Pasadena from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 31. Come learn about the JLP and its community programs while shopping such stores as Mignon Chocolate, Maude Woods: Artful Living, Eden Garden Bar & Grill, Violet’s Cupcakes and The Magestical Garden. Attendees who stop by all of the JLP booths at participating stores will have a chance to enter a drawing for prizes. A portion of the sales during this event will be donated back to the League. This event is free and open to the public.
This year, the JLP programs include Done in a Day, a program that creates immediate impact in the community through one-day volunteer projects, as well as Kids in the Kitchen, an event that empowers children to make healthy lifestyle and nutritional choices. Additionally, we are partnering with critical organizations and groups in our community including the Mothers’ Club Family Learning Center, the Community Assistance Program for Seniors, and the Pasadena Educational Foundation, Pasadena Unified School District, and the City of Pasadena, through a program of public art tours for PUSD students, called My Masterpieces: Discovering Art in My Community.
