BRAND LIBRARY & ART CENTER PRE-RENOVATION SALE
Brand Library recently closed for a major renovation. On two Saturdays, March 31 and April 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be a big pre-renovation sale in the Brand Library Art Galleries. Sale items include books, CDs, LPs, wooden shelves and book carts, tables, file cabinets, desks, silver, dishes, and other miscellaneous furniture items and library fixtures.  Books are primarily art and music, but there will be other subjects. GYP HOLDING MIXER
The next Glendale Young Professionals event is on Thursday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Glendale. The GYP mixer is an opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow young professionals over drinks and complimentary appetizers.

The Glendale Young Professionals (GYP) is a program of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce that develops, connects, and empowers its members, while bridging the gap between generations and serving its community.

FOLK TREE HOSTS TRUNK SHOWS
In the weeks leading up to Mother’s Day, The Folk Tree hosts trunk shows for Los Angeles artists Cathy Ashworth, Ulla Anobile and Bibiana Abello. Visiting the gallery for three consecutive weekends, these artists have created a selection of pieces with a celebration of mother’s in mind.  Painter/mixed media artist Cathy Ashworth will be here April 21-22; paper maché/felt artist Ulla Anobile comes April 28-29; and jewelry designer Bibiana Abello shows her pieces May 5-6.  All the artists will be present from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. both days and the public is invited to meet them and find out more about their work.

The Folk Tree is an art store and gallery focusing on handmade folk and decorative arts from around the globe, especially those of Mexico.  It is located at 217 S. Fair Oaks Ave., minutes walking distance from the Gold Line’s Del Mar station, and just south of Old Pasadena.

LCWC HOLDING ‘HOLIDAYS ABROAD!’

SHOP & STROLL CHARITY EVENT
The Junior League of Pasadena (JLP) and THE Magazine invite shoppers and community members to Shop & Stroll for Charity at the shops on Union and Holly streets in Old Town Pasadena from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 31. Come learn about the JLP and its community programs while shopping such stores as Mignon Chocolate, Maude Woods: Artful Living, Eden Garden Bar & Grill, Violet’s Cupcakes and The Magestical Garden. Attendees who stop by all of the JLP booths at participating stores will have a chance to enter a drawing for prizes. A portion of the sales during this event will be donated back to the League. This event is free and open to the public.

This year, the JLP programs include Done in a Day, a program that creates immediate impact in the community through one-day volunteer projects, as well as Kids in the Kitchen, an event that empowers children to make healthy lifestyle and nutritional choices. Additionally, we are partnering with critical organizations and groups in our community including the Mothers’ Club Family Learning Center, the Community Assistance Program for Seniors, and the Pasadena Educational Foundation, Pasadena Unified School District, and the City of Pasadena, through a program of public art tours for PUSD students, called My Masterpieces: Discovering Art in My Community.

NOON CONCERTS OPEN TO PUBLIC
Glendale Noon Concerts is a free admission concert series taking place every first and third Wednesday from 12:10-12:40 p.m. in the restored chapel and sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Glendale (downtown at Louise & Wilson, no religious affiliation).

The next concert is on April 4 and features Pianist Markus Pawlik who perform works by W.A. Mozart “Sonata in C Major K.330” and Los Angeles composer Peter Knell who will present “4 Snapshots” (composed in 2003).

SENIOR HEALTHLY LIVING EXPO
A senior healthy living expo is being held on Saturday, April 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free services from eldercare experts;

The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada has scheduled three interesting programs for April and members of the community are invited to attend the luncheon meetings.
