An announcement to American Legion members:
The Department of American Legion has announced a benefit to all Legion members. The LegionCare Benefit is an enhanced accidental death benefit available at no cost to all Legion members. LegionCare is a one-of-a-kind benefit offered exclusively to Legion members.
LegionCare provides all Legion members with:
• $5000 in accidental death coverage for covered accidents that occur if you are traveling on official Legion business.
• $1000 for all other covered accidents.
• 24/7 protection covers Legionnaires at home, at work and while traveling away from home.
Important: Members must activate their protection in order to be covered. You may activate your coverage by going online to www.theLIT.com. Once you activate this coverage, it will be in force through August 31, 2016.

Membership is available to either the American Legion Post 288 or the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1614 at 4011 La Crescenta Ave., in La Crescenta. The VFW holds its meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Membership is not required to attend either meeting.
