Bear Visits Montrose area

A bear that has been visiting residences in Montrose neighborhoods this morning has been tranquilized in preparation of being transported into the forest.

According to Fish and Game officer Lt. Marty Wall, two tranquilizer darts have been administered to the bear that is in the rear yard of an apartment building in the 2400 block of Montrose Avenue. Once sedated, Wall said the bear will be transported deep into the Angeles National Forest.

Residents in the area of the 2300 block of Mayfield at Briggs are advised to stay in their homes as Fish and Game officers attempt to capture a bear currently in the rear yard of one of the homes.

Sheriffs and Glendale Police Dept. are also on scene. No streets have been closed
