On a chilly spring morning at Two Strike Park, SoCal Heating held on to beat Zeke’s 5-4 in a Crescenta Sports Association Pinto League game.
The game, held on Saturday, March 31, started out with Zeke’s pitcher Charlie Stewart striking out the first two batters and getting help from outfielder Jarrett Brewer, who made an amazing home-run saving catch to end the inning.
SoCal Heating’s Jacob Petersen pitched an equally strong inning by getting all three putouts on the first three batters he faced. In the second inning, SoCal Heating’s bats came alive with six hits for three runs with Richie Ryan and Daniel Bayles each smacking triples.
Zeke’s battled back in the bottom of the second with a run off three singles by John Gelsinger, Ethan Godby and William Allen. Zachery Roh, Jack Mawhinney, Petersen, and Bayles all singled to give SoCal Heating two more runs in the last inning.
With one last chance to come back, Zeke’s batter Evan Boyle homered, and batters Jordan Lamm, Jake Weingarten, Stewart and Gelsinger all singled to bring the score to 5-4.
SoCal Heating pitcher Roh ended the rally by striking out the last batter leaving Zeke’s with bases loaded and one run shy of tying the game.
All in all it was a fun game and a bright spot in an otherwise overcast southern California March day.
