JOB FAIR ON FRIDAY
Mountview Retirement will be hosting its first annual Job Fair on April 20 from 10 a.m. to noon. They are accepting resumes for all positions – full, part time, and relief/per diem. Positions include cooks, waitstaff/servers, hostess, housekeepers, transportation/driver, maintenance technicians/janitors, caregivers, med techs, concierge/receptionists. Benefits are available including medical, dental, vision, vacation & sick time.

CLARK JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL REUNION
An Anderson W. Clark Junior High School reunion is planned for April 21. The reunion, sponsored by the Class of ‘56, is being held at the La Crescenta Woman’s Club from noon to 6:30 p.m. A spaghetti supper is being served at 3:30 p.m.

Each classmate should bring a salad or dessert. Admission is $20 per classmate with one guest admitted free.

LITTLE LANDERS HISTORICAL SOCIETY ANNUAL PLANT SALE
Over 1,000 plants of all sizes and shapes will be on display at the annual Little Landers Historical Society plant sale on Saturday, April 21. Trees, shrubs, ground cover, succulents, flowers, bulbs, California natives and much more will be for sale.

The sale takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at C & M Printing (new location), 10034 Commerce Ave. in Tujunga.

Parking is available on Valmont or Commerce.

Plant donations may be made on Friday, April 20 between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the same location.

GREENE AND GREENE TOUR
Arroyo’s Edge: Greene & Greene Interiors 2012 is a tour of six Greene and Greene-designed properties in Pasadena’s historic Park Place neighborhood.

Participants will have the rare opportunity to visit six privately owned properties designed by Charles and Henry Greene between 1902 and 1915 that are rarely, if ever, opened to the public. The tour features acclaimed architectural features and design by the masters of the American Arts & Crafts movement. The tour includes the Duncan-Irwin house (1906-08), the Mary Ranney house (1907), the F. W. Hawks house (1906), the Van Rossem-Neill house (1903-06), the Louise T. Halstead house (1905-15) and the James Culbertson garden (1902-14).

The tour takes place on Sunday, April 22 from noon to 5 p.m. (last entry 4 p.m.).

Ticket prices are general admission $85 per person; $50 for children under 12; member admission is $75 per person.

‘TENNESSEE IN SUMMER’ AT SIDEWALK STUDIO

COFFEE GALLERY CALENDARS EVENTS
Coffee Gallery in Altadena hosts a variety of events every week.
Tuesdays are “Comedy Open Mic” from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. All comics get to do a five-minute set. Performers range from those performing for the first time to seasoned professionals. Hosted by Scott Berger.

Thursday is “Artisan Alley” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Artisan Alley includes two featured musical acts, two musical open mics (open to anyone in the community), the works of a featured artist in the back room (art changes every two weeks), and a live DJ. Hosted by The Definition.

Friday is “Music Open Mic” from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Music open mic allows anyone in the community to come on stage and sing a song or play a tune. The sign-up sheet stays open throughout the night and everyone gets to perform twice. Rotating hosts.

Saturday is “Potlikker Showcase” from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.  that offers an eclectic mix of musical performers, poets, spoken word readings, Americana music and a live DJ. Hosted by DJ Beatgozon.

MEDITATION CLASSES OFFERED
Kadampa Meditation Center California is a non-profit organization that offers meditation classes to help people find inner peace and happiness. Currently, Kadampa Meditation Center California is offering an eight week course in La Cañada and Glendale titled “Freedom from Stress, Frustration & Anger.”

In April and May, the mediation class titled “Happiness from a Different Source” takes place on Fridays and Sundays.

On Friday, April 20, 27 and May 4, 11, 18, 25 the class takes place from noon to 1 p.m. at Crescenta-Cañada YMCA, 1930 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada. The cost is $5.

AFRICAN SOCIETY ANNOUNCES MEETING
The African Violet Society of Montrose will meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25 at Descanso Gardens 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada/Flintridge. Visitors and guests are always welcome.

GAMC HOSTING SEMINAR
Glendale Adventist Medical Center (GAMC) physicians will share the latest findings on heart health at the “Live & Learn,” community event on Wednesday, April 25 at the Glendale YMCA, located at 140 N. Louise St. in Glendale. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon.

Free cholesterol screening will be given from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and then again from 11 to noon.

The event will feature two one-hour presentations. Dr. Joseph Bornheimer, cardiologist and medical director of cardiology at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, will speak about “How to keep Your Life Healthy and Heart Strong.”

Dr. George Mutafyan, bariatric surgeon, will speak about “How Your Weight & Your Lifestyle Can Affect the Possibility of Diabetes and Obesity.”

Speakers will be available for discussion at the conclusion of the seminar.
