International Academy of Film and TV Announces Scholarships

The International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT), a new film school at 635 S. San Fernando Blvd., has generously pledged over $17000 in scholarships to the City of Glendale in honor of the City’s annual commemorative events. IAFT is donating 15 scholarships for its summer classes to be awarded at the Man’s Inhumanity to Man (MIM) event Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 pm at the Glendale Central Library. In addition, one of the top three winners from the Glendale’s Short Film Competition will be eligible to win an additional scholarship for a diploma program at IAFT.  All attendees (youth, teens and adults) who are present at the MIM event will be able to enter a scholarship drawing and 15 lucky recipients will go home with summer scholarships to IAFT.

The Man’s Inhumanity to Man event, now in its 11th year, has a goal of educating the community about the various inhumane acts that have taken place in history, with the hopes of preventing these in the future.  This year, a Short Film Competition was featured.  Entries were based upon any of the following topics:

  • Mass Killings and Genocides
  • Slavery
  • Human Trafficking and Exploitation of Men, Women and Children
  • Body Organ Trade

Additionally, the participants could explore the progress towards humanity

Three films have been selected and their submissions will be shown at the Man’s Inhumanity to Man event and the producers of the films will discuss their entries.

IAFT was named by the Hollywood Reporter as one of the best film schools in the world, recently expanding to Burbank-Glendale with a new campus at 635 S. San Fernando Blvd. IAFT is unique – truly a global film school for filmmakers who want to tell universal timeless stories for the screen. For more information visit http://iaft.net
