Sunday, May 6 will mark the eighth year for this exciting annual event in the Montrose Shopping Park. We invite you and your well-behaved canine companions to join us here as we support the Glendale Humane Society and its Second Chance program where dogs are rescued from shelters.

At 10 a.m. there will be a dog walk on beautiful Honolulu Avenue. Anyone is welcome to walk with or without a dog, especially GHS alumni. We love these doggie reunions! Registration for the walk begins at 9 a.m. at the Andersen’s Pet Shop parking lot. Registration is free but we encourage donations to this worthwhile cause.

You will want to bring the kids as we will have plenty of pet-themed entertainment for them. They will want to visit the Critter’s To Go Petting Zoo featuring farm animals and the Wild Wonders exhibit with animals from the wild like snakes and lizards. There will be hand-led pony rides and red and white carnival game booths with prizes.

We have a party planned for your doggies, too. Get ready for fun dog contests like, “The Best Kisser,” judged by GHS and Andersen’s Pets owner Alyce Russell. Other contests include “Most Irresistible Ears,” “Best Dog & Owner Look Alike,” and “Best Trick.” There will also be “Ask The Trainer” sessions with Paul Owens, the original dog whisperer.

All of the excitement takes place in the 2200 & 2300 blocks of Honolulu from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. along with our weekly Montrose Harvest Marketplace featuring California certified and organic produce, open air food court and lots of unique tent shopping with antiques, collectibles, crafts and artwork. Our market keeps getting better and is now juried so we make sure to bring you only the best of collectibles, unique arts and crafts. We continue to have a waiting line of folks who would love to get in the market. You can be sure it’s brimming with finds waiting just for you.

We have so many one-of-a-kind restaurants and cafés in town and on May 6 you will get to try many of them as we welcome Taste of Montrose benefitting Prom Plus. For $20 you can purchase a bracelet which will entitle you to sample the best of many of our cafés and eateries. Sounds like something for everyone that day.

So bring your pup, your kids, your market bag, and a healthy appetite, and come home to Old Town Montrose!
