Home(town) is Where Our Heart Is
“When someone does something good, applaud! You will make two people happy.”Samuel Goldwyn
The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce would like to applaud the numerous people who contributed time, effort and materials to make the seventh annual Hometown Country Fair a total success last weekend. It was a great event and we appreciate all of the people from around the Crescenta Valley who came out to have fun with us; however, if it were not for about 25 people who worked diligently for probably about 3,000 combined hours, this fair could not have been the success it was.
A huge thank you to Liza and Tim Morelli of Bonners Equipment Rentals in Tujunga. These owners of Bonners are always at every event with not only all their supplies, but also with sweat equity ready to help with whatever is needed. If you ever need to rent anything, please start at Bonners.
Then there are people like Leonard Ghazarian of Caspian Services, Inc., Marvin Lee of Property Professionals, Neil Ryan of Ryan’s Residential Repair, Doug Dall, principal of Clark Magnet High School, Craig Fisher of Craig’s Electric and Steve Pierce (of Steve Does Everything) who flip burgers in 90 degree weather, haul in coffee for the volunteers, put up EZ-ups and many more menial jobs and always do it with a smile. Thank you to Dr. Cynthia Livingston (principal of Rosemont), Holly Heurkins (Paychex), Shannon Pondella (Surface Fitness), Warren Boehm (Boehm Ins.), Robin Goldsworthy (CV Weekly), Rev. Paige Eaves (CV United Methodist), Michael Riley (Riley & Assoc.), John Giblin, Aram Ordubegian, Pat Biermann and Rick Liss (Entrepreneurs’ Source) for setting up, tearing down and everything in between. These people and many more come to the fair early and stay late to make sure everything is done that needs to be done.
Applause goes to those also who couldn’t make it to the event but helped in the days leading up to the event with selling tickets, collecting sponsors and participating in planning meetings such as Mike Padula (U.S. Bank), Ken Biermann (retired principal of CVHS), Bruce Bartels (Bruce’s Automotive), Lissa Mooney (Dream Dinners) and Howard Hakes of Hitchcock Automotive.
Kudos go to the entire Maluccio Family for holding down the fort in the kitchen and serving up the burgers to hundreds of fair-goers.
A special thanks to Dwight Sityar of The Early Rodders for a fantastic car show. A thanks to Chris Waldhiem of J’s Maintenance for making sure trash was picked up all day and loaning us some much needed shade. There were so many other people that worked countless hours and helped wherever needed like Eleanor Wacker, Sandy Mintz, the kids from Prom Plus Club, and our emcee Phillip Mazouk and DJ Patrick Campbell.
Applause, kudos and thanks go to all these people and anyone that I have forgotten – sorry, still have fair hangover myself –who helped to make the Crescenta Valley such a great ‘Hometown!’
