Stars to Join Matt Catingub

Artistic director/conductor Matt Catingub will be joined by spectacular performers to conclude the Glendale Pops’ first season.

Jazz great Dave Koz and vocalist Monica Mancini will join Matt Catingub and the Glendale Pops Orchestra for the final show of the GPO’s first season in “A Night At The Movies.”  The performance takes place at Glendale’s historic Alex Theatre on May 11 at 8 p.m.

Koz will perform a bevy of Hollywood classics like the “Pink Panther” and “Wizard of Oz,” among others, as well as his some of his hits including “You Make Me Smile” and “Can’t Let You Go.” Mancini will pay tribute to her father, the legendary Henry Mancini, with a medley of his most famous film compositions arranged by the Pops’ renowned artistic director and conductor Matt Catingub who came to the Pops from the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and consistently received praise for his premiere season in Glendale.

Catingub has assembled some of Los Angeles’ finest musicians for the GPO, sharing many of them with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. The premiere season has also included special guests Kenny Loggins, David Benoit, Patti Austin and the newly organized Glendale Pops Youth Chorus.

The Glendale Pops is donating a portion of tickets sold for this performance to one of the two non-profit entities with which it is partnering for this performance. The Starlight Foundation will receive funds with the promo code StarlightPops and the Glendale Kiwanis/Kiwanis International Eliminate Project will benefit when the promo code KiwanisPops is used.
