CSA Game of the Week
Fans at Crescenta Valley Park braved the hot temperatures and were treated to an exciting girls’ 10 & under softball game on Saturday afternoon. The game featured the Lava Monsters of Merithew’s True Value Hardware and the Supremes of Supreme Roofing/Old School Cameras.
The Supremes got off to an early lead, picking up five runs the bottom of the first inning on walks by Melinda Gallegos, Margaret Hofhine and Bella MacDonald and two doubles by Kylee Lousararian and Cynthia Ramirez.
The Lava Monsters came back in the top of the third with five runs with a combination of singles and walks from Lesley Trigueros, Anna Giboney, Gracie Gordon, Megan Manning and Breanna Evans.
The Supremes’ scored two more runs by Azul Heck and Kylee MacDonald in the bottom of the third on a series of walks to take a 7-5 lead. With the Supremes up by two, the Lava Monsters started a rally, scoring three runs on walks and singles.
With the Lava Monsters up by one run, in the bottom of the fourth pitcher Manning gave up the tying run to score by Ramirez.
With bases loadedm the Lava Monsters made a pitching change bringing in Kristen Jenks who walked the next batter allowing Emily Aguilera to score the winning run for the Supremes in a final of 9-8.
