June 2 – 3 marks the 29th Annual Montrose Arts & Crafts Festival. See you there!

Is it really that time of year again? Before you know it Memorial Weekend will be here, the signal that Arts & Crafts is right around the corner. Yes, the 29th Annual Montrose Arts & Crafts Festival will take place Saturday, June 2 through Sunday, June 3. This is one of the oldest events of its type in the state as well as the largest public event in the City of Glendale.

Once again the event is fully booked with all three blocks of Honolulu Avenue closed off to through traffic. The event seems to keep growing with over 280 artisan booths alone. Dee Ovenden, our Arts & Crafts Event manager, said our favorite crafters will be back along with 30 brand new booths. You’ll see wood workers, handmade clothing, tons of unique jewelry, ceramics, fine art, country crafts, novelty, garden décor, wind chimes, glass, metal works, pottery, custom signs, handmade pillows, linens, artisan soaps, potpourri, all kinds of purses and totes, rustic signs, dolls, sterling toe rings, and much, much more. Whew, I’m out of breath already!

Throughout the entire event there will be live music and festival food galore. Those of you that follow this column know I’m all about the food, so I’m saving next week’s article to explore that subject a little more. If I were you, I would plan on coming both days and here’s why.

On Saturday all of our unique stores and salons will be open. You can treat yourself to a mani/pedi and shop a block or two: stores, crafters and all. On Sunday come back for the Montrose Harvest Marketplace and finish where you left off. This way you get two days of shopping fun and don’t miss anything.

This craft festival has something for everyone. Being a retailer with a women’s clothing store, and a home furnishings and gift store, I have the luxury of shopping for a living. I see all kinds of goods on both coasts and everywhere in between. Every year I come away from our Arts & Crafts festival with “one of a kind” things I can’t find anywhere else. I get to meet the artist and I take away a wonderful Montrose memory.

So start preparing with comfy shoes, a sun hat, a market bag, and a wad of cash. We can’t wait to see you all in Montrose for a glorious weekend. See you in “shop ‘til you drop” Montrose!
