A motorcycle driver apparently sustained only fractures and some road rash after he crashed his bike at what has been estimated a rate of speed of 100 miles per hour.

On Saturday at 2:54 a.m., a Glendale officer was traveling westbound on Foothill Boulevard when a motorcycle reportedly passed him going at an extremely high rate of speed. Shortly after the driver passed him, the officer heard a loud crash, according to Glendale Police Department.

The officer responded to the area of Foothill Boulevard and Lauderdale Avenue and found that motorcycle had crashed alongside the south curb of Foothill Boulevard. The driver, a 25-year-old Tujunga man, was found near the bike.

The attending physician reportedly told the officer that the driver had sustained two fractures in his right arm and road rash throughout his body.

When the officer spoke to the man, he allegedly smelled an odor of alcohol on his breath. The driver reportedly told the officer that he had been at a  party at a friend’s house and was coming home. Apparently there was some issue with his girlfriend and he got angry. He allegedly said he had three shots of some type of whiskey before getting on his motorcycle.

The driver reported seeing the lights of a police patrol unit just before he lost control of his vehicle. He remembers being catapulted off of his bike and lying in the street. He saw the lights again and thought he was in the middle of the street and began crawling away, Glendale police report stated.

Later, he allegedly told officers he had smoked marijuana about three to four hours prior to the accident and began drinking about 11 p.m. The driver did not have a current valid California motorcycle license.

He was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was transported to USC County hospital.
