CV Fireworks Tickets Now On Sale
Starting today, you can purchase your tickets to the July 4th Fireworks show held each year at La Crescenta Elementary School. The advance sale tickets are $7 each, children 7 and under free. Tickets sold the day of the event will cost $10. Remember you can purchase your tickets at the CV Weekly or the CV Chamber office or at Bob Smith Toyota. You can also buy tickets on July 4th using the “drive thru” ticket line at Prospect and La Crescenta avenues from noon to 3 p.m.
Celebrating Flag Week
From Sunday, June 10 through Saturday, June 16 residents and businesses are asked to display their American flag for Flag Week. All Montrose merchants will receive an American flag for display for the week.
Reserve Your Seat Now on the Summer Beach Bus
The popular Summer Beach Bus returns to the foothills on June 19. Continuing through Labor Day, residents can beat the summer heat at one of Southern California’s premiere beach destinations, Santa Monica State Beach, while traveling roundtrip in the comfort of an air-conditioned, wheelchair-accessible bus. Service is on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Labor Day. Pick up is at Two Strike Park at 9:15 a.m., the County Library at 2809 Foothill Blvd. (boarding is on La Crescenta Avenue) at 9:25 a.m., the southeast corner of Montrose Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard at 9:35 a.m. and the northwest corner of Foothill and La Cañada boulevards at 9:45 a.m.
Boarding for the return trip from Santa Monica is at 3:30 p.m. and arrives at Two Strike Park at 4:30 p.m., the library at 4:35 p.m., the southeast corner of Montrose Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard at 4:45 p.m. and the northwest corner of Foothill and Ocean View boulevards at 4:45 p.m. All times are subject to traffic conditions.
The roundtrip cost is $3 for children and adults, $1.50 for senior citizens over 60 and persons with disabilities. Exact fair requested.
The bus service fills up quickly, so residents should make reservations early. To reserve a trip, visit www.LAGoBus.info or call (888) 769-1122 up to a week in advance but no later than 24 hours prior to departure. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
The Summer Beach Bus Program, operated by L.A. County Public Works, provides service to Santa Monica State Beach from La Cañada Flintridge and La Crescenta in addition to many other sites.
VHH to Hold Blood Drive
Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH) will hold a community blood drive on Wednesday, June 20 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The drive, sponsored by the American Red Cross, will be held in the hospital’s Council Rooms B and D, located on the fourth floor.
Before donating, blood donors must be in good health; be at least 17 years of age; bring photo I.D., weigh at least 110 pounds; drink plenty of water; eat a nutritious meal; and have not received tattoos within the last 12 months. All blood donations will benefit patients at VHH.
All donors will receive two free tickets to the Laugh Factory, a coupon for a free Wahoo’s Taco, and a chance at a regional drawing for a $500 certificate to the airline or hotel of their choice.
