3100 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, an employee reported that a man entered the Orchard Supplied Hardware (OSH) and asked her if he could look at the knives that were in a locked case. She showed the man the knives, he chose one and asked if he could pay for it at the cash register downstairs.     Before the employee had a chance to say anything the man got into the elevator and went downstairs. The employee contacted the cashier at the downstairs register to inquire if the man had attempted to pay for the knives. He had not. The employee went downstairs and reportedly witnessed the man outside the exit doors holding the knives. When the man saw the employee he began to run out of the parking structure.
The incident occurred at 7:11 p.m.

June 11
2600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a woman reported that she had used the self-check out register at Ralphs Market. When she completed her transaction and got to her car to drive away she noticed that her wallet was missing. She reported remember having it in her left hand at the check out but wasn’t sure if she had left her wallet on the receipt printer or if she had placed it in her purse. She returned to the store and looked for her wallet but could not find it. She contacted the cashier who reported she had not seen the wallet.     The incident occurred on 4:30 p.m.

Oakgrove Drive, just north of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a woman was driving southbound on Oakgrove Drive when she noticed 25 to 35 middle and high school aged kids waiting at the nearby bus stop. As she drove past them an object struck the windshield of her vehicle causing it to chip. She drove her vehicle back to the area where the kids were and allegedly observed a blond boy about 13 years old, 5’1” tall, weighing about 120 pounds. He was wearing a maroon T-shirt and blue jeans and carrying a maroon backpack. He was picking up rocks and running across the street to the bus stop. The woman stopped her vehicle and confronted the boy who reportedly denied that he had thrown rocks.
The incident occurred at 1:15 p.m.

2600 block of Orange Avenue in La Crescenta, a laptop was stolen from a classroom at Monte Vista Elementary sometime between June 1-4.

June 10
2600 block of Orange Avenue in La Crescenta, someone threw a lemon and shattered the front window Monte Vista Elementary School between June 8-10.

June 9
4500 block of Castle Road in La Cañada Flintridge, a bike was stolen from a carport between midnight and 6 a.m.

2900 block of Highridge Road in La Crescenta, a man reported receiving a phone call from the Los Angeles County District Attorney “Bad Check” division and was told on Jan. 30, 2012 he had issued a check to a pet medical business. There were insufficient funds in his account at the time. There were restitution and fines levied against the man, who stated he had not written the check.

2700 block of Pinelawn Drive in La Crescenta, a man returned home after being away for two days to find a tree in his backyard had been vandalized. The tree trunk had branched off into two primary branches about 25 feet above the ground and 10 feet above the chain-linked fence that runs behind his property. The branches were cut off just above the point where they branched off from the main trunk. The property and the tree are adjacent to a debris basin. The man reported that he had been told by county [public works] that they would be working in the area but there was no mention of any tree trimming/removal. He reported that he had no dispute with any of his neighbors.
The incident was reported on June 9 but occurred between June 5-8.

2900 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a man walking along the sidewalk near the Goodwill office reportedly noticed another man taking cardboard boxes that apparently contained donated items for Goodwill and placing them in his green Toyota Camry that was parked in the alley to the side of the building. The man told the suspect to put the donated items back. The suspect gave a short and vulgar response to the man’s request indicating he would not be putting the items back. The man challenged the suspect letting him know he would call the sheriffs if he did not put the items back.
The suspect then allegedly said he would “blow his [the man’s] head off” and pointed his hand to the man as if it were a gun. The man left the area and then saw the suspect driving slowly, traveling back and forth in the area as if searching for someone. The man stayed out of sight and called the sheriff’s station. The suspect is about 60-to-65 years old with white hair and blue eyes. He is about 5’10” and weighs 200 pounds.

June 7
4900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in La Crescenta, a man reported that he had received a check in the mail addressed to him with a letter that stated he was hired as a “mystery shopper” and was going to be working as a consumer specialist. The man was uncertain of the validity of the letter and called the account manager listed on the letter who told him that everything was valid.     The man deposited the check into his bank account. Due to the amount the bank placed a hold on the check. When he went to the bank a week later to deposit another check he was unable to do so because the bank officials had frozen his account. He was told the check was fictitious. He received the check on May 22.

June 6
Foothill Boulevard and La Cañada Boulevard in La Cañada, a 27-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested for being drunk in public. When deputies found the man he couldn’t tell them where he was, he didn’t have any money and did not know how he was going to get home at 6:20 p.m.

June 5
2900 block of Frances Avenue in La Crescenta, a woman received a phone call from the Fraud Alert department of her credit union telling her that someone had written large checks on her account in the Santa Clara area. She had not written the checks.
The incident occurred on May 31.

2900 block of Community Avenue in La Crescenta, a Crescenta Valley High School student reported that while she was having her graduation photos taken she had placed her phone on a nearby table. When she returned it was no longer there. She activated her Global Positioning System on the phone, which led her to the 2500 block of Altura Avenue. She approached the home where her phone had directed her but the resident said neither she nor her two children had the missing phone. Deputies were later called and, with the homeowner’s permission, conducted a search of the kids’ bedroom but did not find a phone.

2600 block of Altura Avenue in La Crescenta, a man was contacted by his accountant and told him that the Internal Revenue Service had rejected his 2011 Federal Tax Return because it had already been filed using an address that was not his.
