VHH Named One of the “Healthiest Companies in America”

Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH) has been named one of the Healthiest Companies in America by Interactive Health Solutions, Inc. (IHS), the leading provider of performance-based employee health management programs. VHH was one of 70 honorees for its health and wellness initiatives in 2011. This is the second year VHH has won the award. VHH was one of only five hospitals in the country to be recognized, and the only hospital in California.

The Healthiest Companies in America award is given to corporations and organizations across the nation that have created a “culture of wellness,” significantly reducing healthcare costs through widespread employee participation in proactive health and wellness initiatives. The selection process involved evaluating healthcare data for the companies with clinical information demonstrating improved employee health across an index of key indicators.

The Healthiest Companies in America for 2011 rankings are based on a series of clinical evaluations of employee participants across an index of key health indicators designed by Interactive Health Solutions. The selections are based on proprietary measurement, called the Interactive Health Index, used to assess individual and company-wide health. The index tests for indicators for heart disease, diabetes, smoking and other measures of health status.     Participants are scored at the start of the program and take steps throughout the year to reach their personal health goals. At the end of the year, individual scores are compiled to form an overall company score and determine the Healthiest Companies in America.
