At a celebration over the combining of two churches – St. Luke’s of the Mountains and Church of the Ascension – the two congregations joined together around the table and had a good meal.
The congregation of Church of Ascension of Tujunga joined with St. Luke’s of the Mountains in mid-May. St. Luke’s services begin with a gathering at 9:30 a.m. followed with church services at 10 a.m. The Ascension church service begins at noon.
On a recent Sunday, the two congregations held one joint service. Afterwards they had a barbecue that included a special Ascension tradition.
When Ascension members celebrate their anniversary, everyone brings a cake that celebrates every occasion. At their barbecue, St. Luke’s members happily joined in the Ascension tradition resulting in a table full of colorful, creative and delicious cakes.
