DGF, CV Sheriff’s Support Group Holding Golf Classic

The Desi Geestman Foundation and the Crescenta Valley Sheriff Support Group will team up again to host their Annual Golf Classic on July 16. This year’s event will be played at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club.      Tournament Chair Rick Dinger recommended combining the two tournaments into one. “I thought it would be a great opportunity to introduce both organizations to more people and provide a bigger bang for our sponsors buck.”

Major sponsors are the Cal Tech Employees Federal Credit Union and Xerox.

The cost to participate is $200 and includes green fees, cart, lunch, dinner, awards, tee prizes and more. Tee and green sponsorships are available for $150. Registration forms can be found on line at www.cvssg.com.

The Desi Geestman Foundation it is an organization that helps children cope with cancer. When families deal with a sick child, their lives are turned upside down. Volunteer members of the foundation throw birthday parties for the children, provide phone cards so they can call their parents, gas cards and food certificates for the parents when they visit their child and many other items that help the entire family during the period of treatment.

This foundation takes care of people who don’t qualify for state assistance but are struggling financially due to the child’s illness. The foundation wants parents to focus on their child’s recovery.

The Sheriff Support Group is also a non-profit organization that is run by volunteer members of the community and money raised is used to support the Crescenta Valley Sheriff Station and its deputies. The funds raised help purchase specialized equipment and other programs necessary to operations at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Both of these non-profits maximize every dollar raised by keep their expenses very low and each serve our community in many ways,” said Dinger.
