Captain David Silversparre of Crescenta Valley Station reminds all residents to have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July.
Personal fireworks are not legal in the communities of Montrose, La Crescenta, Kagel Canyon, Big Tujunga, Angeles National Forest and in the city of La Canada Flintridge.
There are numerous authorized fireworks displays throughout Los Angeles County including the annual Crescenta Valley Fireworks Association’s Fireworks Show and Festival at La Crescenta Elementary School, 4343 La Crescenta Ave., La Crescenta. The event will open to the public at 4:00 P.M. and conclude at 10:00 P.M. The fireworks show is scheduled to commence shortly after 9:00 P.M. The festival will take place at the La Crescenta Elementary School’s playground, which is located on the northeast portion of the school property.
At 1200 P.M., Prospect Ave. which is located just north of the event, will be closed to all vehicle traffic. The west closure will be located at the intersection of Glenwood Ave. at Community Ave. The East closure will be at the intersection of Prospect Ave. at La Crescenta Ave.
No Alcoholic beverages will be permitted inside the event. This is a family-oriented event, and there have been no major problems related to this event in past 21 years and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is not anticipating any this year.
