Community Thanksgiving service scheduled
The community is invited to share Thanksgiving worship at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning in the sanctuary of First Church of Christ, Scientist, La Cañada Flintridge. The church is located at 600 Foothill Blvd. at Woodleigh Lane. There is ample free parking.
The service of prayer and praise includes hymns of joy and thankfulness, a reading of the presidential Thanksgiving proclamation, a Bible lesson which includes scripture and citations from the Christian Science textbook, and an opportunity for those present to stand and express their thanks to God for blessings and healing. The service is open to all, including children. Child care is available for those too young to participate.
The members rejoice as they look forward to a new home in which to carry out God’s mandate to reach out to the community in love and healing. After much prayer over a lengthy period of time, the members voted to sell their present property and find a new home in La Cañada Flintridge that will give them increased opportunity to carry out their mission, found in the Gospel of John: “He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father.”
The church’s web site www.cslcf.org has details about the church, its mission, and its opportunities.
