Summer Voice Classes
First Baptist Church at La Crescenta is hosting free voice lessons. Come join us Thursdays through Aug. 23 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tammy Flanders, First Baptist choir director, will teach participants how to sing better, improve their voice, harmonize with a group and read music. She has a bachelor’s degree in Music, Vocal Performance from Biola University and has been a music teacher for 39 years at her music studios in the La Crescenta, Rancho Cucamonga and Whittier areas.

Zimmerman at Unitarian Universalist
Political satirical songwriter Roy Zimmerman will be performing at the
Unitarian Universalist Church of the Verdugo Hills on Tuesday, Aug 7 at 7 p.m.

Remembering Parishoners
A funeral for former movie and television personality and parishioner Patricia Donahue Hogan will be Saturday, Aug. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bede. There will be a reception in the Parish Hall immediately following the Mass.

Family Festival
On Saturday, Aug. 1 Bethel Church is offering a free family festival from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the entire community. Carnival games, bouncers, bingo, raffle, snacks, petting zoo, prizes, and supper will all be available at no charge.

Vacation Bible School at Bethel Church
Bethel Church will offer a free vacation Bible School for kids aged kindergarten through eighth grade on Aug. 6 to Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon. The PandaMania program includes Bible stories, crafts, games, music, snacks and new friends. Everyone is welcome, but please call in advance to make a reservation.

Catholic Prayer Breakfast Date Announced
The Los Angeles Catholic Prayer Breakfast announced the Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, archbishop Philadelphia, will be the keynote speaker for the 2012 event on Sept. 18, which marks the eighth anniversary of the prayer breakfast.
The Los Angeles Catholic Prayer Breakfast takes place at Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral, Los Angeles on Tuesday, Sept. 18. The schedule is:
6:30 a.m. rosary; 7 a.m. Mass; 7:45 a.m. breakfast and program; 9 a.m. conclusion.

Most Reverend, Charles J. Chaput, archbishop of Philadelphia was ordained on Aug. 29, 1970. He received a master’s degree in Theology from the University of San Francisco in 1971. He was among a group of Native Americans who greeted Pope John Paul II when the latter visited Phoenix, Ariz., during his 1987 trip to the United States. On July 19, 2011, Archbishop Chaput was appointed as archbishop of the archdiocese of Philadelphia, Pa.
