Celebrating a tasty spirit

“While the spirit of neighborliness was important on the frontier because neighbors were so few, it is even more important now because our neighbors are so many.”

Lady Bird Johnson

Many of our neighbors came out for a Taste in the Foothills on Wednesday, Nov. 11. It was a wonderful event with such great food and great company. It was a great way to try the great food coming from the wonderful restaurants right here in the Crescenta Valley.

Two of the restaurants that joined us at the Taste in the Foothills can be the place for all your Thanksgiving needs. Frank’s Famous Kitchen and Bakery can make your holiday easy, simple and delicious. They offer freshly baked free range turkeys with all the trimmings. Frank’s Famous Kitchen and Bakery food is amazingly fresh, the associates are friendly and the atmosphere is always comfortable. The food they serve is always prepared from scratch with high quality ingredients such as real butter, cream and Guittard and Bakels chocolates. They bake 18 different types of cookies every morning. And their sandwiches are built on authentic San Francisco Bread that they bake fresh all day long. They have been voted ‘Best Sandwich’ three years in a row by the readers of the Glendale NewsPress. Visit Frank’s Famous Kitchen and Bakery at 3315 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale, just below Montrose Shopping Park.

Visit Berolina Bakery and pick up one of their famous pies including Pecan pie, Old Fashioned Apple pie, Berolina’s original Fresh Cranberry Almond Tart, Harvest Crumble Pie, Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin cheesecake. Their pies are handmade from scratch, the old-fashioned way. Berolina says that their pies’ delicious aroma and flavor will transport you back to grandma’s kitchen. Visit Berolina Bakery, a perfect choice for your holiday party, at 3421 Ocean View Blvd. in Glendale just below Montrose Shopping Park.

Another great restaurant you should try is House of Joy in La Crescenta.

Their restaurant has been family owned and operated since 1984. They strive to provide their patrons with great tasting food, courteous service and offer a joyous family-style dining experience. Their cuisine from the orient is unique and distinctive. Visit House of Joy Chinese restaurant at 3220 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.

These are three great neighborhood eateries who donate to our community.  Please show your spirit of neighborliness and visit them for a great meal.  Remember: eat and shop local.
