It Takes A Village … What a Fun Kid’s Store!

When It Takes A Village owners describe the store as “a unique kid’s boutique” they aren’t kidding. This is one of the most innovative kid’s stores I have ever seen … ever! It’s full of color and the most creative clothes. I wish they had style like that back when I was a department store children’s buyer.

Vibrant owner GiGi Garcia is releasing her expertise stemming from her 17-year retail background. In the 13 years that she has lived in the Crescenta Valley she has dreamed of opening a children’s boutique in the Montrose Shopping Park.

“I felt that there was a need for a special store for children of all ages with clothes at a median price range,” she said. Sizes here are from infant to 12/14, for both boys and girls.

In addition to the latest specialty lines, GiGi carries “Soft,” a line that was created for autistic and sensitive children. “Soft” has no tags, flat seams, wide collars, and encased elastic waistbands made for extreme comfort. You can also find crafty toys, stationery, handmade goods, and “MadPax” backpacks with dinosaur spikes that are perfect for back-to-school.

This evening, Thursday Aug. 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., It Takes A Village is hosting a “Little Artist Party.” For $6, children age 2 and up can choose a crafts project to paint and decorate. Parents are invited to shop while the kiddos have fun. Call them at (818) 957-2200 to reserve a space.

It takes A Village (2317 B Honolulu Ave.) is located right next door to Revelation Tops. They are such an asset to the Montrose Shopping Park and GiGi is a great neighbor. When you go in, look for my favorite kid’s top. It’s black and beige and has the Eiffel Tower and the Beatles on it.
