One station that was represented was that of Norwalk.

Sgt. Andrew Thompson of the Norwalk sheriff’s station said that the deputies’ presence was a proactive measure to discourage criminals from thinking that the recent evacuations were an opportunity to raid local homes and automobiles.

The Norwalk deputies numbered 22 with two sergeants that worked 12 hour shifts.

According to Thompson, there wasn’t any criminal activity in the area that he was aware of since reporting to the Crescenta Valley.

Sgt. Marc Burruss credited the high visibility of law enforcement with the relative calm within the community during the recent wildfires.

“That’s why we’re here,” said Thompson.
