Honolulu Avenue transformed into an outdoor art gallery on Saturday at the 2009 Art Walk, sponsored by the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce. This was the last artwalk in the series of three; the first on May 2 and the second on July 11. The event provides a forum for artists from all over Southern California to gather and exhibit their work. A variety of mediums were presented from wa­tercolors to pen and pencil sketches. The series of art walks have become increas­ingly popular each year with artists returning to Mon­trose to a supportive com­munity. “There have been a lot of people interested in my art,” said Roland Clark. Clark, a Tujunga resident, has participated in the event for the past six years. He has been an artist for 30 years and his paintings of mid west farmscapes depict a lifestyle that defies his Cali­fornia roots. The chamber holds the artwalks to cel­ebrate the rich population of fine artists within its area, according to the Montrose- Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce website. Fellow artist Julie Hill is also a re­turning artist. “Though it’s been a little slow, people are still supportive,” she said.
