Screening, Discussion
at Library
Population Connection and the Glendale Human Relations Coalition will be hosting a screening and discussion of the documentary “Mother: Caring for 7 Billion.” It will take place on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library community room (accessed from the rear parking lot).
Light refreshments will be served. This free event is open to the public.
The La Crescenta Library is located 2809 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta.
Movie Nights in
Montrose
The 3rd Annual Montrose Film Festival takes place this weekend. On Friday night, “Back To The Future” will be screened and on Saturday, “Back to the Future – Part 2.” The free events will begin at
6:30 p.m. and take place at the site of the old Montrose Theater in the lot next to Andersen’s Pets, 2218 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose. Seats will be provided and there will be live music performed by The Maestro’s, cartoons and free popcorn. Cupcakes and candy will be available for purchase. Dinner from local restaurants can also be ordered from and picked up by Prom Plus Club members. Classic cars will be cruising Honolulu Avenue.
Inaugural Korean
Armenian Festival
The first Korean Armenian Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Crescenta Valley Park.
The festival celebrates the music, traditions, games, food and activities of the Korean and Armenian cultures. The event is co-sponsored by the L.A. County Dept. of Parks & Recreation, Supervisor Michael Antonovich, local businesses, the CV Town Council and local non-profits. Portion of all proceeds benefit the town council scholarship fund and the Fire House Youth Center.

5K Run/Walk Planned
Applications are available for the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 5K – Running the Foothills. The run takes place on Sept. 22 at Two Strike Park.
Check-in begins at 7 a.m. and the fee, prepaid, is $20 and includes a T-shirt. On the day of the race, the cost is $25 and T-shirts are subject to availability. Kids Fun Run is free. A T-shirt costs $10.
