The Automobile Club of Southern California, Glendale Adventist Medical Center and Glendale Police Dept. are hosting a seminar today about child passenger safety and the new law that increases the age children must remain in a child safety seat or booster seat from 6 to age 8. The seminar is today, Thursday, Sept. 13, at Glendale Adventist from
9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The seminar will also offer information on when children should progress to a booster seat or seat belt and upcoming Auto Club child passenger safety classes throughout the Southland.

The seminar coincides with National Child Passenger Safety Month and National Child Passenger Safety Week that begins Sept. 16.

Passenger safety advocates and experts including an Auto Club Traffic Safety Educator, a Glendale Adventist Emergency Medicine physician, a Glendale Police Dept. representative, and Spanish and Armenian spokespersons will discuss the importance of booster seats and rear facing child safety seats to prevent the No. 1 cause of child death and permanent disability – car crashes. Safety experts will demonstrate proper car seat use, seat effectiveness and describe injury and fatality statistics.
