A tennis coach was arraigned Wednesday on several charges of lewd acts upon a child. He was arrested by Glendale police officers on Monday after the abuse was brought to their attention.

Dale Kim, 46, of Northridge was arrested on Monday at the Scholl Canyon Sports Complex where he coached tennis.

“He has no connection to Scholl Canyon. He is an independent instructor that used the facility,” said Sgt. Tom Lorenz.

Kim allegedly had sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl between June 2011 and April 2012.

Glendale police began investigating Kim once they became aware of the sexual misconduct with the minor who was a student of his, Lorenz said.

The incidents allegedly occurred in Kim’s vehicle in the parking lot of the sports complex and later in a motel room in Tujunga.

Glendale police are continuing the investigation. It is not yet known how many students Kim coaches.

Kim had faced charges of sexual battery filed in 1997 in Los Angeles Superior Court. He was acquitted of those charges in January 1998.

The district attorney has filed several counts against Kim including 10 counts of lewd acts on a child. He was arraigned in L.A. Superior Court, bail was set at $875,000.
