The 11th annual Unity Fest was held on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. along Brand Boulevard in Glendale. The festival celebrates the diversity of the Glendale population and featured live entertainment that included Crescenta Valley, Glendale and Hoover high schools; groups like DB Dance Studio, Grand Master Soke Kubabta Martial Arts and rock bands Go Betty Go and The Incompletes. Demonstrations were given on yoga and martial arts, aura readings were offered and sculpted fruit and vegetables were on display.
No one left hungry. Not only were restaurants open, but there were also specialty food trucks on site including Rounds Premium Burgers, Hang 10 Tacos, Hungry Nomad – Mediterranean Food, The Bun Truck featuring Korean food with Middle Eastern flare, and the Tornado Potato.
There were plenty for children, too, from coloring and drawing to rolling in a plastic bubble in a wading pool to collecting souvenirs from the various information booths.
Congressman Adam Schiff and Senator Carol Liu were special guests who took the microphone to welcome guests.
An estimated 4,000 people visited Unity Fest over the five-hour period estimated Patty Betancourt from the City of Glendale.
“The goal of the event is to provide cultural diversity for people of all ages,” said Betancourt. “It is a fun celebration of unity in Glendale.”
