LCPC Parent Education celebrated its seven new board members and three new staff members with a welcome tea hosted at Deena Keys’ La Cañada home on Sept. 6.

Parent Education participants Robin Harvill (So. Pasadena), Brandi Murphy (Altadena), Amanda Welch (Pasadena), Julie Engler (La Cañada), McCall Avery (La Cañada), Shannon Snaer (San Marino) and Jenn Kliewer (Pasadena) joined returning board members Lynley Gross (La Cañada), Amy Powell (Pasadena), Deena Keys (La Cañada), Sloan Walsh (Altadena), Laura Repstad (San Marino) and Lynne Graves (La Cañada) to make up the 13 member panel whose mission is to support the Parent Education program through fundraising, marketing and outreach.

“I am excited to join the board because I love the Parent Ed program,” said new auction coordinator and Pasadena mom Amanda Welch. “Through Parent Ed, I have received wonderful support, advice and friends. I want this program to grow and thrive.”

With the new board, LCPC Parent Education Director Anne Bierling welcomed three new hires to the Parent Education team. Paige Dunbar, a former elementary teacher with multiple subjects credential, is a teaching assistant. Gini Frederich, MFT and Victoria Eaton, who has a masters in Elementary Education, both signed on as teaching substitutes, bringing the staff total to 16 members with 294 years of combined parenting experience.      Also in attendance at the tea was guest speaker Julie Wood. Wood is the executive director of the International Princess Project, a non-profit group advocating for children enslaved in human trafficking, which is a project that LCPC Parent Education will be supporting throughout the year.
