2900 block of Community Avenue in La Crescenta, someone entered a locked gym locker at Crescenta Valley High School and stole a backpack between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

4600 block of Dyer Street in La Crescenta, a resident reported he had received a billing statement fro Macy’s department store in the mail. The bill had his name, personal information and was in the amount of $269.89. The resident does not have an account with Macy’s. Two days later he received similar statements from other department stores. There were charges for purchases he did not make and had not requested credit cards from the stores. He received more statements from different stores, again without applying for the credit cards or making the purchases. The incident was reported to the sheriff’s department.

1900 block of Verdugo Boulevard in La Cañada, a 20-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Deputies observed two people acting suspiciously in front of a pick-up truck. When they approached the two they could reportedly smell a strong odor of marijuana. They approached the man who allegedly said he had been smoking marijuana earlier but there was nothing illegal in his vehicle.

After an investigation, deputies found a container with brown tar-like substance resembling concentrated marijuana/hashish. The man reportedly told deputies he got the drug from a dispensary. There were also numerous pill bottles of marijuana found in the vehicle along with a medical marijuana recommendation letter for the suspect’s injured ankle.

1400 Descanso Drive in La Cañada, someone stole a five-gallon gas can from inside a storage container at Descanso Gardens overnight.

2700 block of Montrose Avenue in Montrose, a Pacoima man was arrested for receiving stolen property, trespassing and being drunk in public at 7-Eleven.

The clerk at the convenience store requested deputies to ask the Pacoima man to leave the area. When approached, the man became belligerent and refused to leave. The clerk reported the man had entered the 7-Eleven two hours prior to purchase food and beer. The clerk refused to sell him alcohol because it appeared he was already intoxicated. The man then stood in front of the store and approached customers, harassing them at 5:13 p.m.

2800 block of Pinelawn Drive in La Crescenta, a resident returned home and saw a white Jeep Cherokee parked directly in front of his driveway. The driver of the vehicle was described as a black male, 20 years old. The driver apparently noticed the resident and quickly drove westbound on Pinelawn Avenue then a few seconds later saw the same vehicle drive in the opposite direction out of view.

The resident thought it was odd but didn’t take any action at the time. Then one hour later he went to the west walkway of his yard to dump trash and noticed a window screen of the living room laying on the ground and that the glass window had been shattered. He went inside but nothing appeared to be missing.  The incident occurred between 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

2800 block of Pinelawn Drive in La Crescenta, when a resident returned home from work, he parked in his garage and entered his home. He noticed the hallway door was open, which is normally closed, and several lights were on in the home. He went further into his home and found several bedrooms had been ransacked. It was not clear how the burglary suspect/suspects entered his home.

The incident occurred between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
