“Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value into your life.”
Christiane Northrup
I am appreciative of the great town we live in. The Crescenta Valley boasts great mountainous views, wonderful schools, superb weather and a great community. I hope everyone who lives here appreciates the Crescenta Valley and shows their gratefulness by shopping and eating locally.
Have you tried Schreiner’s Fine Sausages lately? Family owned by Walt Schreiner and his son Wally, Schreiner’s Fine Sausages has been located in Glendale since 1952. Wally is now the third generation to run the family shop, which still smokes all of its own meat. Schreiner’s is like an old friend, always happy to see you. The staff is friendly and dressed in dirndls, the traditional dresses worn in Austria and southern Germany, matching the old world atmosphere you’ll experience when you first walk in the door. Schreiner’s offers the finest fresh meats, smoked meats, cheeses, imported specialties and party platters available in Southern California, to both retail and wholesale customers. Having company this holiday season? Stop in Schreiner’s at 3417 Ocean View Blvd., Glendale, and let them help make your holiday more special.
Also for a great meal or takeout visit Tortas Mexico with two locations: 2041 Verdugo Blvd. in Montrose and 6231 Foothill Blvd. in Tujunga. They have fresh authentic Mexican food from tortas to sopas. The service is friendly and quick and they even have an extensive breakfast menu. The huevos rancheros are one of our favorites.
If you are in the mood for great Kung Pao Chicken or Shrimp in Lobster Sauce, you should visit New Moon Restaurant at 2138 Verdugo Blvd. in Montrose.
Their signature dish is the New Moon Chicken Salad which has slow roasted chicken rubbed with aromatic herbs and is tossed with a mélange of crispy, crunchy and nutty delights. They purposely dress this salad ever so lightly so that the combination of flavorful ingredients can be savored. New Moon is widely recognized as the first family to introduce the Chinese Chicken Salad some 45 years ago.
Remember shop and eat local this holiday season and be thankful we have such great establishments in our community.
