Come to the Montrose Shopping Park for Spooktacular this Wednesday starting at 5 p.m. It’s fun for the whole family!

The Halloween season is in full swing and the countdown has begun. Once again we are looking forward to the best Spooktacular ever! Did you know the merchants of the Montrose Shopping Park are the ones responsible for this tremendous treat? It’s one of the many ways we say “thank you” and encourage you to continue to support our small, local businesses.

This year’s Spooktacular is bigger and better than ever. We will be closing all three blocks of Honolulu Avenue from Verdugo to Las Palmas. For the first time ever we will have carnival rides by Kemsley Carnival, whom many of you have enjoyed at the CV fireworks.

If it’s costume fun you’re after, we have several options. We will be holding a children’s costume parade across stage one located in the 2200 block of Honolulu Avenue. This is for our younger attendees, under 12, who can simply walk across the stage to show off their costume. In the 2300 block, we will have a costume contest for those over 12. There will be a prize for the winner in each category. Watch for categories like most creative, funniest, scariest, and best in show.

The always-popular pet contest will be held on stage one in the 2200 block. Watch for categories like most original/creative, cutest, funniest, and spookiest. Sometimes we’ll make up a category on the fly if something looks interesting in the audience!

Head to the 2400 block for exciting carnival rides, possibly some game booths and our inflatable attractions. This year we have some great street food including La Gordita Feliz – hot dogs, refreshing assorted lemonades, baked potatoes, roasted corn on a stick, Curiel Mediterranean food, Simply Delicious Kettle Corn, and cotton candy by Kemsleys. Yum!

Of course our merchants will be handing out candy beginning at 5 p.m. and going ’til the candy runs out.

I was just editing the photos I took of last year’s Spooktacular. I am sharing them on our Montrose Shopping Park Facebook page, so check it out! We will have photos of kids, families, the street, the candy and the merchants. It was such a magical night and the adults are as into it as the kids. Who knows? You may be pictured!

Just a reminder tomorrow night is Shop & Dine Friday when many of our stores are staying open later, some even until 8 p.m. and beyond. To set the mood, there will be live street music from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A fun night to be sure! Thank you for “Falling In Love With Montrose” and supporting your local small stores.
