Shop Montrose: Small Business Saturday on Nov. 24
You have heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday but have you heard of Small Business Saturday? It is the Saturday between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar businesses that are small and local, like the shops that line Honolulu Avenue. The Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce is encouraging our local holiday shoppers to support the small businesses in Montrose and the surrounding communities by taking part in Small Business Saturday. This is a day dedicated to supporting the local, independently owned businesses that add character to our neighborhood. As a consumer, you are a key part in helping small businesses thrive. Don’t ever underestimate your power as a consumer. By shopping or dining at a small business in Montrose this Nov. 24 you’re showing your support. This means you are helping the local entrepreneurs offer more jobs, which in turn invigorates the local economy.
You can also help support this cause by spreading the word to others or share the news online and through social media. Anything you can do helps to give our small businesses the support they need to keep creating jobs, powering the economy and invigorating communities.
This is also the first Saturday of Montrose’s Old Towne Christmas celebration so it will be a fun day for the entire family. There will be a horse drawn trolley and pony rides, strolling carolers, Christmas music and Santa Claus can be found passing out candy canes! Visit shopmontrose.com for all the details. Please remember to help support your local businesses Saturday, Nov. 24 during one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year! When you shop local, everyone wins!
Remember to save the date to hear Glendale City Councilmember Laura Friedman when she comes to Montrose to have a community meeting in the Northern Glendale Area. She will be speaking at the Sparr Heights Community Center on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a time for questions and answers at the end of address. Please take this opportunity to bring the questions or concerns that you have regarding the North Glendale area so that we can begin a discussion regarding them.
Don’t forget: For only $99 you can become a chamber member or renew an outdated chamber membership. Becoming a member ensures your business listing in our 2012-13 directory and a listing in our online digital directory. The directory is a great resource that is used by many people in the community.
