Library Planning Tea
Registration continues for the Mother Daughter Tea at the La Crescenta Library through Nov. 30. The winning registrants will be contacted on Saturday, Dec. 1. The Holiday Mother Daughter Tea will on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The selection of the guest list will be determined by lottery with about 21 mothers and their daughters/granddaughters being selected.

Councilmembers Coming
to Sparr Heights
Glendale City councilmembers Laura Friedman and Ara Najarian are hosting a community meeting at Sparr Heights Community Center to discuss area concerns on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a time for questions and answers at the end of the address.

CV Weekly Offices Closed for Holiday
The offices of the Crescenta Valley Weekly will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24.
Thomas Receives
Appointment
Duncan Thomas, 66, of La Cañada has been appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown to the Carcinogen Identification Committee. Thomas has been professor of biostatistics at the University of Southern California since 1984, where he has served as the Verna R. Richter Chair in Cancer Research since 1999. He is a member of the International Genetic Epidemiology Society and served as president in 1999.
Thomas is a member of the International Biometric Society and the American Statistical Association and is a fellow at the American College of Epidemiology. He earned a Master of Science degree in mathematics at Stanford University and a doctorate degree in epidemiology at McGill University. This position does not require senate confirmation and there is no compensation.
Glendale Site of Ramos Brothers Circus
Ramos Brothers Circus is at the Glendale Civic Auditorium parking lot through Dec. 4. Shows are held Monday through Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
In 2005, the Ramos Brothers Circus started bringing first class shows with jugglers, clowns, horses, motorcycle daredevils, and the amazing flying trapeze. The two-hour live performance filled with fun and excitement will have everyone on the edge of their seats.
Admission is $10 to $30, depending on seat availability.
