Rain Doesn’t Distract from Scouting for Food

The annual Scouting for Food event concluded on Saturday with Boy Scout Troop 288 setting up a drop-off drive through so drivers could stay in their vehicle and out of the rain while giving their food donations.

The drop-off was at the American Legion Hall on La Crescenta Avenue that sponsors Troop 288. The bags – lots of bags – of food were brought into the Legion Hall where the boys separated them into categories.

The weekend prior the Scouts dropped off empty grocery bags in nearby neighborhoods and asked residents to fill them with canned and non-perishable food. The community came through, donating hundreds of pounds of goods. Scouts from other troops dropped off food they had collected and many residents drove to the American Legion Hall to drop off their donation.

After it was sorted the food was donated to Sue’s Garden and Sunland Tujunga Temporary Aid Center.
