St. Luke’s Anglican Church welcomes the Rt. Rev. Bishop Bill Thompson of the Diocese of Western Anglicans to its Sunday worship services on Dec. 2. Bishop Thompson oversees 25 separate Anglican parishes within the greater Western Anglicans Diocese. Bishop Thompson will perform youth confirmations during his annual visit.

The Bishop will also appear for the first time in the annual Montrose Christmas Parade on Saturday. Bishop Thompson will join an enthusiastic troop of St. Luke’s youth, dressed as angels, marching to celebrate the joyous birth and coming of Jesus Christ. This year marks St. Luke’s third appearance in the community parade.

St. Luke’s welcomes the community to attend its weekly Sunday worship services. A traditional 8 a.m. service is followed by a 10:15 a.m. contemporary family worship service. Services are held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Chapel, 300 Vallejo Dr., Glendale.

On Dec. 8, St. Luke’s Anglican Church hosts its annual Angel Breakfast for families with young children from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 3561 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.  The community is welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Angels will be among us to serve breakfast and sing about the joy they have at Christmas time. Children and their families will be escorted by angels to various stations to enjoy making crafts, listen to a Nativity storytelling, have play time, a family photo and a special visit from St. Luke’s Angel Choir. Each child will receive a gift bag to remember their special morning.  Everyone is welcome.

Annual Drive-Thru Nativity
For the 12th year, Community Christian Church of the Foothills is presenting its Drive-thru Nativity Scenes for the public.

Cars are directed to slowly drive through a path that showcases various scenes of the nativity story, including live actors portraying Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, the angel, and wise men. Each year approximately 2,000 people view the two-day presentation that is offered free to the community.

Free coffee, hot cocoa and cookies are available at the end of the drive in the church’s coffee house. If the visitors choose, they also have the opportunity to enter a special prayer area to meet with church members.

The Drive-thru Nativity Scenes take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 and Dec. 8. The event is part of Community Christian Church of the Foothills, 10193 Tujunga Canyon Blvd. in Tujunga, just north of Foothill Boulevard.
