Glendale Adventist Medical Center (GAMC) announced that the The Joint Commission (TJC) recently gave the hospital accountability measures a composite compliance score of 98.6% in the hospital’s ORYX Performance Measure Report. The score puts GAMC amongst the highest ranking hospitals in the nation.

The Joint Commission created ORYX, a performance measurement and improvement initiative, in 1997 and in 2002 accredited hospitals like Glendale Adventist Medical Center began collecting data on core performance measures. Hospitals are required to collect and transmit this data to the Joint Commission for compilation and analysis on a quarterly basis.

TJC reported that there were no “undesirable results” for patients treated for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia or surgery from 2011 thru first quarter of 2012. It showed, instead, that GAMC had “desirable performance” in all four categories of care.
