Breakfast with Santa Saturday
The La Crescenta Woman’s Club, Junior Section, is holding its annual Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the clubhouse, 4004 La Crescenta Ave.

There will be free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Admission is $10 per person and includes a gift and crafts for each child and a holiday buffet, live music and entertainment.

CVWD Holiday Meeting Schedule
The following are the scheduled meetings for the board of directors of the Crescenta Valley Water District for December 2012 and January 2013. Meetings will be held on Tuesdays: Dec. 11, Jan. 8, Jan. 22.

Meetings are held at CVWD’s administrative office located at 2700 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta at 7 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day
Native plant expert Roger Klemm will be leading volunteers in a light work session on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to restore the natural habitat at the newly established Rosemont Preserve. The focus will be on identifying and removing invasive plant species to allow room for the native flora to become reestablished.

Participants should wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Those who have a shovel, pickaxe, loppers or digging bar should bring them along.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park.

This event is free to the public, all ages, and no reservations are required.

Blood Drive at VHH
Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH) will hold a holiday blood drive on Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The drive, sponsored by the American Red Cross, will be held in the hospital’s Council Rooms B&D, located on the fourth floor.

Before donating, blood donors must be in good health; be at least 17 years of age; weigh at least 110 pounds; and have not received tattoos within the last 12 months. Donors should also drink plenty of water; eat a nutritious meal before donating

. Bring photo I.D. All blood donations will benefit patients at VHH.
