Wow!! The CV Weekly this week [Dec. 20] was most interesting and full of great articles. Of interest to me were several items.
First is the plight of Chris and Stephanie McReynolds. We need, in my opinion, a family restaurant on Foothill Boulevard and we do not need an empty building. Is there anything that the public can do to help?
Secondly is the retirement of Mike Lawler from presidency of the Historical Society of Crescenta Valley. His retirement is well deserved as Mike is a real worker and has done a lot. I hope though that he will continue to write his column, Treasures of the Valley, for the paper and continue the Now and Then feature. I always look forward to those two features.
Thirdly is the letter from Lucy DiMino regarding the closing of Rocky Cola Café. Her letter is touching though bittersweet. I think though that she should have mentioned that then president Bill Clinton chose Rocky Cola for lunch on one of his trips to California. If memory serves me correctly, he had one of RC’s famous buffalo burgers. Historian Lawler can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that Bill Clinton is the only United States President to have ever visited Montrose.
Fourthly I really enjoyed CV Weekly Fantasy Football and I think that Lynn McGinnis has come up with a real whopper matching off the youngest players in head-to-head competition. I will be eagerly waiting for the results.
