For Comfort Shoes that are Fashionable Shop Walk This Way
I am aware of a growing French influence in the Montrose Shopping Park. I loved the story in last week’s column about Montrose, France, named after a rose covered mountain, and how that was translated to the streets of our town being laid out in the shape of a rose. Now France pops up again as I discover that Edna, the new owner of Walk This Way Shoes (2253 Honolulu Ave.), spent two years in Paris studying at Sorbonne. Perhaps this exposure to the French fashion scene was part of the inspiration to step up the offerings at Walk This Way. No longer just a comfort shoe store, Edna has made it her mission to introduce fashion to the comfort arena, the goal being to look great while your tootsies feel great.
For those of you on Facebook, a quick peek at the recent photos they have posted tells the story. Check out the descriptions of these recent arrivals: a trendy, sophisticated, ankle cut peep toe, a colorful driving moccasin with European flair, a hip boot with a metal studded buckle strap for much added visual appeal, and a cute ballerina flat adorned with a charming, hand-knotted leather bow. I would wear every one of these because they are trendy, well made, comfortable and functional.
When asked what attracted her to Montrose, Edna shared, “I love the little neighborhood boutique stores. I truly believe these stores are the reason that Montrose has remained so charming. I think the Montrose Shopping Park is a gem that not too many people know about – but the word is getting out. We want our neighborhood to survive, we should encourage our neighbors to shop local and keep this wonderful community going.” Amen to that!
Upon visiting Walk This Way you can expect knowledgeable and caring service as well as an in depth presentation of the latest shoes by Clarks, Naot, Sas, Ecco, Taos, Orthaheel, New Balance, Merrell, Munro, Onex, Josef Siebel, Romika, Dansko, Mephisto, Earth, Birkentock, Haflinger and Tsubo. There is also a nice selection of men’s shoes as well as shoe accessories, insoles, and socks.
Thanks for reading and do take the time to Walk This Way and meet Edna and her very capable staff. This store, in business since 1990, just keeps getting better. Stop in and you’ll see why!
