Candidates Forum Includes VHGC
On March 5, the City of Los Angeles primary election will include four candidates running for City Council District #7. This district includes the Verdugo Hills Golf Course. On Feb. 2, a candidates’ forum is planned to give voters the opportunity to learn about the individuals running for the office.
The candidates include: Jesse David Barron, Nicole Chase, Krystee Clark and former Assemblymember Felipe Fuentes.
Whoever wins the CD7 seat will help determine the future of the golf course, as well as the Verdugo Hills Storm Water Project. L.A. city councilmembers are allowed three 4-year terms, which means whoever wins this race could represent CD7 and its residents for the next 12 years.
The CD7 candidates’ forum includes a meet and greet from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with the forum starting at 2 p.m. It takes place at the North Valley Neighborhood City Hall, 7747 Foothill Blvd., Tujunga.

LCF City Council Candidates’ Election Forum Scheduled
A public election forum for the three candidates for the March 5 election of two seats on the La Cañada Flintridge City Council will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 6 in the auditorium at Flintridge Preparatory School. The event is sponsored by the La Cañada Flintridge Coordinating Council and the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada. The three candidates – Jon Curtis, Joe Layton and Dave Spence – have agreed to appear and Peter Bachmann, headmaster at Flintridge Prep, will moderate. Neither of the sponsors will endorse any of the candidates.
The forum will begin, after introductions, with an opening statement from each of the candidates. Each will then have an opportunity to respond to questions from the audience, as consolidated by the moderator. They will finish with a short closing statement. Absent candidates may not provide a substitute speaker; instead, the moderator will read a statement if available. Questions are limited to election issues and those of a personal nature will not be asked.
The forum is open to all. Parking and admission are free. Light refreshments will be available in the foyer.

Burbank Council Announces Recruitment Schedule
Burbank City Council has announced that it has developed a tentative recruitment schedule in its search for a permanent city manager.
Ken Pulskamp has served as the interim
city manager since Dec. 3. The city council has been working with him and the executive search firm Peckham & McKenney to find a permanent replacement.
The city council wants to engage the community and receive input on the ideal candidate for city manager. Recruiter Bobbi Peckham will be interviewing a wide array of interested groups and holding public forums during the month of February. Public input during this period is welcome and encouraged.
The city council anticipates applications will be accepted beginning in March through mid-April. The screening and interview process will conclude in May with an anticipated appointment in June and a potential start date in July.

Lenahan Named Fire Chief
On Jan. 24, Burbank Interim City Manager Ken Pulskamp announced that Tom Lenahan is named the permanent fire chief for the city of Burbank. Lenahan has been serving as the city’s interim fire chief since the departure of Chief Ray Krakowski who retired Dec. 24.
Chief Lenahan assumed the position immediately.
