The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) in conjunction with Foothill Municipal Water District (FMWD) is planning a shutdown of its imported water facilities to Crescenta Valley Water District and other local agencies from Thursday, Feb. 21 through Thursday, Feb. 28.

The district does not anticipate any water supply problems during the shutdown due to current demand, local ground water capacity and the district’s emergency connection with Glendale Water and Power.

CVWD, along with the other Foothill water agencies in the La Crescenta, La Cañada, and Altadena areas, will be in a red or critical water alert condition during the shutdown period to ensure ample local supplies for indoor water use and emergencies.

During the red or critical alert, no outdoor irrigation will be permitted and residents are encouraged to conserve indoor water use. In addition to no outdoor watering, please refrain from hand-washing vehicles, filling swimming pools or spas.

CVWD will be working with Caltrans, schools, and the local parks to turn off their irrigation systems during this period.

The district will use the Nixle network system to update the community on any water supply conditions. Those who don’t have a Nixle account can create one at www.Nixle.com. Nixle is a notification service for law enforcement and government agencies.
