Julie Andrews will be at the Flintridge Bookstore & Coffeehouse on Feb. 11 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. signing “The Very Fairy Princess Follows Her Heart.”
Julie Andrews has been a beloved and much-honored star of stage, screen and television for more than half a century. Today’s film audiences most recently saw her as a queen trying to train her teenaged granddaughter to be a princess in “The Princess Diaries,” 1 and 2. She is also known as the voice of Queen Lillian in “Shrek 2.”
Andrews made her Broadway debut at the age of 19 in “The Boy Friend.” She went on to create the role of Eliza Doolittle in the stage production of “My Fair Lady” and subsequently Guinevere in “Camelot.” She received an Academy Award for best actress in her first film, “Mary Poppins,” and was nominated for her performance in “The Sound of Music,” one of the most successful motion pictures of all time.
But her foray into the world of children’s books, with her daughter and fellow author Emma Walton Hamilton, has introduced the multi-talented star to a new generation of admirers, sharing her commitment to stimulating a sense of wonder in children and young readers.
“The Very Fairy Princess” series follows the adventures (and mishaps) of young Geraldine. The newest book in the series, “The Very Fairy Princess Follows Her Heart,” is now on sale and Andrews will be at Flintridge Bookstore and Coffeehouse on Monday, Feb. 11 to sign copies. Please note that this is a ticketed event, so call the bookstore at (818) 790-0717 for information.
During the course of her career, Andrews has won five Golden Globe awards – two for being the world’s favorite actress and one for her performance in the film “Victor/Victoria,” a role she reprised on stage for the Broadway production in 1995.
And while the world has known Andrews and long savored the magic of her artistry in film, television, on stage and recordings, she continues to seek new and challenging opportunities through which to ply her seemingly endless talents.
From her Broadway stage triumphs, her many motion picture successes added to her long list of top rated television specials and a recording career equaled by few, there can be little doubt that Julie Andrews is truly an entertainment phenomenon. She will be at the Flintridge Bookstore & Coffeehouse from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday signing “The Very Fairy Princess Follows Her Heart.”
