Burglary suspects attacked a man after he surprised them at his home on Tuesday night.
A resident in the 2900 block of Frances Avenue entered his home about 7:15 p.m. and found two men inside his residence.
“The [two male suspects] were inside burglarizing the home. The homeowner came home and confronted them. A fight ensued,” said Sgt. Debra Herman of the CV Sheriff’s Station.
The suspects fled the area; the homeowner was transported to the hospital with a broken jaw.
The suspects had stacked several of the home’s items by the front door but left them as they fled. It is not known if anything was stolen from the home.
The suspects apparently entered the home through windows they had broken. Sheriff detectives were out canvassing the neighborhood on Wednesday to let neighbors know of the incident and attempt to find anyone who may have seen anything suspicious.
“I didn’t know about it until the sheriff detectives came to the door,” said Greg Sheehy, a neighbor.
He and his wife arrived home Tuesday night about 6:50 p.m. They went into their home and didn’t hear anything.
“This is a quiet neighborhood,” Sheehy said. “We had some cars broken [into].”
He added that nothing this violent had happened in the past.
Earlier on Tuesday, two women were arrested for soliciting magazines door-to-door.
“We don’t know if that has anything to do with the burglaries,” Herman said.
Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious is asked to contact Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station at (818) 248-3464.
