Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH) received a $10,000 donation from the VHH Foundation’s Women’s Council during a recent luncheon celebration at the hospital. The unrestricted funds raised will help support the purchase of capital equipment for the hospital. The event also included the installation ceremony of the 2013 Women’s Council board of directors when Eileen Akers was named the new chair of the Women’s Council.

“The installation of the Women’s Councils’ new board of directors brings a fresh view and renewed effort to provide support to the hospital,” said Akers.

Betty Hurn, immediate past chair of the Women’s Council, said, “The installation of our new board of directors is always a time of new ideas and renewed enthusiasm for our community hospital.”

The 2013 Women’s Council board of directors are: Chair Eileen Akers, Treasurer/Finance Alexandra Smyser; Fundraising and Sponsorship Chairs Purnima Panchal and Suzonne Slaughter; Membership Chairs Marie Hansen and Jill Haines; Program Chair Gloria Cotten; Corresponding Chair Virginia Clegg; Recording Secretary Teri Rice; Publicity/Historian and Parliamentarian Pauline Hendricks; Nominating Resource Chair Betty Hurn.
