Feb. 26
Foothill Boulevard and Hampton Road in La Cañada Flintridge, a 36-year-old Norwalk man and two Los Angeles men, one 31 and the other 30 years old, were arrested on reasonable cause burglary charges, receiving stolen property and suspicion of possession of a narcotic. Deputies stopped the suspects on a routine traffic stop and discovered that one of the men was on probation for grand theft and another suspect had a warrant for burglary in his name. After an investigation, deputies discovered a camera that had been reported stolen from San Bernardino County and burglary tools.
The investigation is ongoing.
The arrests were made at 12:30 p.m.


Feb. 25
31000 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, an employee of Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) reported witnessing a man walk out of the store carrying store merchandise that he did not pay for causing an alarm system to be activated. The suspect was described as a man between 25 and 35 years old, 5’8” tall weighing about 165 pounds with black hair. On surveillance video the man could be seen walking into the store via the lower entrance and exiting moments later carrying items under his arm. It was discovered that plumbing items had been stolen reported between 4:46 p.m. and 5 p.m.

5700 block of Briar Tree Drive in La Cañada, a worker had serviced the electrical panel located on the sidewalk in front of the location on Feb. 19. When he returned on Feb. 25, he noticed the panel door had been pried open and the lock broken. Three batteries and a power inverter were stolen. Several wires were cut and removed sometime between Feb. 19-25.

5800 block of Edmund Avenue in La Crescenta, several guns, personal information and a computer were stolen from a home. The resident reported that he had been on vacation and a friend was watching his home and taking care of his dog while he was away. When the friend left the home all items were present; when he returned they were missing between Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. to Feb. 24 at 10 a.m.


Feb. 24
400 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, personal items and a backpack were stolen after a man had left them in a booth at McDonalds. When he realized he had forgotten his backpack, he returned to the restaurant and was reportedly told by an employee that a man described as Armenian with brown hair had picked the backpack out of the booth several hours later at 10 a.m.

5400 block of Ocean View Boulevard in La Cañada, as a resident was balancing his checkbook he did not recognize a check that had been made out for $860 to a person he did not know. After an investigation he now thinks his original check in the amount of $360 to another person may have been intercepted and the check “washed,” changing the amount and the payee.
He discovered the item at 1:25 p.m.

2300 block of Montrose Avenue in Montrose, a woman was contacted by an employee at the Bank of America Fraud Department and was told that a tax return in the amount of about $9,000 had been direct deposited into her account. It had been deposited in the victim’s name into an account belonging to “Genreta Harutyunyan.” The victim had prepared her taxes a week earlier and received a message that a tax return with the same social security number had already been submitted. The victim had contacted the Identity Theft Affidavit to the IRS on Feb. 13.

3000 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, an employee of Walgreens reported that a man entered the store, took a box of ice cream out of the cooler, began eating the ice cream and began to walk out the door. The employee confronted the man; after an exchange the man ran out of the store dropping the ice cream as he fled.
The suspect is described as a male Asian in his early 20s, 5’5” to 5”7” tall, heavyset with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a dark shirt and shorts and was last seen running westbound on Foothill Boulevard at 5:10 p.m.


Feb. 23
Foothill Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue in Glendale, a 27-year-old La Crescenta man was arrested for indecent exposure after Glendale police responded to a call concerning a man exposing his buttocks and genitals to an employee at Cold Stone Creamery. When police were on their way to the location they were told the suspect, described as an Asian man, 20 to 25 years old, wearing a dark colored shirt and shorts. He was last seen walking toward Vons market on Foothill Boulevard. Police found the suspect on Foothill Boulevard near New York Avenue.
Police asked him if he was at Cold Stone and he allegedly admitted to being there. When asked why he exposed himself, he reportedly said he did it because he felt like it. The incident occurred at 7:07 p.m.

4300 block of Ocean View Boulevard in Montrose, a resident reported that someone unknown had used his personal information to open a credit card and charge several items to the account on Feb. 10.


Feb. 22
3000 block of Encinal Avenue in La Crescenta, a 35-year-old man was arrested for burglary after deputies responded to a call by the man’s father. The father said he allegedly witnessed his son smashing the window of his home with what appeared to be a pipe. He yelled at his son to stop and go away but his son did not. He then walked toward the back of the home and repeatedly kicked the door until it broke and he entered the home. The son reportedly told the deputies he was attempting to get his clothing; the father said he that none of his son’s items were in the home. The father had evicted the son from the home due to his drug use. The man was arrested at 5:20 p.m.

2600 block of Ridgepine Drive in La Crescenta, a resident returned home to find her front door wide open. It was also discovered that the sliding glass door screen was open. The home had been ransacked and jewelry was stolen between 11 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.

3100 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a man described as white, between 28 and 30 years old, 6’ tall, medium build with short black hair and wearing a gray shirt and blue pants entered Orchard Supply Hardware [OSH] and walked to the area where the faucets are located. He allegedly took the items from the shelf and exited the store at 2:55 p.m.


Feb. 21
5100 block of Castle Road in La Cañada, a resident reported returning home from work to find several of his closet doors open throughout his home and that a jewelry box that appeared to have been ransacked sometime between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

5200 block of Castle Road in La Cañada, several jewelry items were stolen and a home was ransacked between 8 a.m. and 7:54 p.m.


Feb. 20
1500 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, a 22-year-old Canoga Park man and a 21-year-old Sherman Oaks man were arrested for burglary. According to a report, while on patrol a deputy noticed a vehicle parked at the corner of Alta Canyada and Foothill boulevards with its headlights on. As the deputy approached the vehicle, the Canoga Park man ran out of the nearby 7-Eleven store holding two beer bottles in the direction of the vehicle. When the man noticed the deputy, he turned his back toward him and the driver of the vehicle drove to the alley behind the 7-Eleven. The Canoga Park man was detained. The deputy walked into the store and noticed the Sherman Oaks man standing inside the store facing the deputy. The deputy detained the second suspect at the store.
After an investigation both men were arrested for burglary at
1:47 a.m.
