NOTES & NODS

Cooking and More at St. Luke’s
On Saturday, March 2 at 5 p.m., St. Luke’s of La Crescenta will be offering an authentic Mexican cooking class.

All are welcome! We will be cooking on Saturday for Sunday lunch at the church!

On Sunday, March 3 at 11:15 a.m., St. Luke’s is offering “Adventures in Anglicanism” class. This week the topic is “What is the Book of Common Prayer?”

Many people are new to the Episcopal church and have no idea what is in the Book of Common prayer much less how to use it to enhance their own Christian spiritual practice.

All are welcome. We will meet in the Fire House, which is the teen center on the campus of the church.

For more information, call Holly in the church office at (818) 248-3639.

Tuesday Table Talk
On Tuesday, March 5, Bethel Church will offer a screening of the film “A Little Princess.”

When her father enlists to fight for the British during World War I, Sara Crewe goes to New York to attend her late mother’s boarding school and clashes with an overbearing headmistress who attempts to stifle her creativity and sense of self-worth. But she’s tested even more severely when word comes that her father has been killed in action. This G-rated film will appeal to the entire family.

The presentation will be preceded by a potluck supper. The potluck starts at 6:30 p.m.; the presentation starts at 7:15 p.m. followed by dessert and discussion at about 8:15 p.m. Free.

‘8 Habits of Love’
How do I know I’m living the life I should be? How do I best help others when they need it? How do I talk candidly with difficult people?

Every person can live a full and creative life if they can learn to move through troubling emotions such as fear, anger, and sadness to find the beloved within themselves. Join friends at Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church as together we engage in excellent book “8 Habits of Love” (available locally at Once Upon A Time bookstore) by the Rev. Ed Bacon of All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena. The worship series continues through Easter. Sundays at 10 a.m., with reflection groups meeting throughout the week.
